The World Arena, located near exit 138 on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs, is an 8,000 seat multi-use arena and entertainment venue. Having opened in 1998, this venue has since been host to numerous concerts and continues to offer a variety of entertainment choices to the area.
This venue is unique amongst entertainment complexes, with an adjacent Ice Hall that has two practice rinks, one sized to NHL standards and the other an Olympic size ice skating rink. Additionally, the arena has become home to the Colorado College Tigers men's ice hockey team and is considered to be one of the best ice training facilities, serving world famous figure skaters and Olympic hopefuls alike.
Yet the draw of the venue extends far beyond the slick ice of the Ice Hall. Currently, Kellogg's is hosting the 2012 Tour of Gymnastics Champions. Numerous gymnastics events, including men's women's rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics will be showcased by members of the 2012 Olympics team who will be joined by past Olympians and World Championship gymnasts. Holders of VIP tickets will even have an opportunity to meet with the athletes, including all around 2008 Olympic gold medal winner NastiaLiukin, during a Meet and Greet with the gymnasts.
While sporting events are commonplace and well attended, events at the arena are not strictly athletic. Batman Live, The Crime Fighting Tour is a theatrical stage performance featuring Batman and Robin battling many of Gotham's most infamous villains. This show is scheduled for a short run from October 23-24. The arena also hosts Concerts, Family events, and may even be rented out by private parties for an individual event. When there are no major, public events underway, private functions are often scheduled. Common events are charity events and corporate meetings. Private functions are required to use the venue's own in house catering service during the event.
Since 1998, the World Arena has been drawing people within, offering an opportunity to attend a variety of events and participate in cultural, physical, and theatrical growth.
